Where We Come From
A Primary School Became an Inter College
How a school that taught thirty children up to standard three became the oldest and best known college in the region.
It opened around 1918–19 as Primary School Jakholi, in the time of Maharaja Narendra Shah of Tehri. It taught up to standard 3, and its pupils walked to Raudhdhar to sit their examinations.
During excavation on the site, idols of Ram, Lakshman, Sita and Hanuman were found — and the place took the name Ramashram. Thakur Hukum Singh Negi, pradhan of Jakholi, gave his own land for the temple and the school. The present building stands on land donated by the villagers.
High school in 1969, intermediate college in 1975. Students who studied here are now spread across the country and beyond.
